COLUMBIA, S.C. - For the first time since last season's regular-season finale, the Allen football team hit the field for live action as the Yellow Jackets split into two teams (Blue and White) for an intrasquad scrimmage Saturday at Richland Northeast High School.

Allen's offense was tabbed the Blue team, while the Yellow Jacket defense was named the White team.

The Blue team had the ability to score points by making field goals (two points) and achieving first downs (one point), while the white team's points were accumulated via interceptions (five points), fourth downs (two points) and fumbles (two points). Touchdowns for both teams counted as six points.

After two halves of action-packed play, the Blue team defeated the White team, 52-24, to earn the victory.

Both teams displayed moments of dominance, but Allen's offense, which ranked first in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 28th in Division II last season, eventually pulled away late.
The Allen defense got off to a stellar start, jumping out to a 16-6 lead before the offense rallied back to tie the game, 20-20 at the half.

In the second half, the format of the scrimmage changed as the teams played possessions from 40 yards in, 30 yards in, 20 yards in and 10 yards in.

During the second half of the action, Allen's offense came alive and scored numerous touchdowns to earn the 52-24 victory.

Allen will kickoff its 2022 campaign Sept. 3 when the Yellow Jackets host in-state foe Newberry.
