Annie Louise Douglas Jett January 31, 1945 - May 27, 2022

Mrs. Annie Douglas Jett. Mrs. Jett passed early Friday morning, May 27, 2022 in a Florence hospital following a brief illness.

Celebration of Life on Monday, May 30, 2022 in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church yard. “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121: 1-2

Mrs. Annie Louise Douglas Jett was born in Darlington, South Carolina on January 31, 1945, a daughter of Dannie Douglas, Sr. and Evelyn McKiever Douglas. She departed her earthly life on Friday morning, May 27, 2022 in McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness.

Annie received her formal education and was a graduate of Darlington County Public School System.She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Henry Jett,Sr. and this union was blessed with four children.Annie and Henry were the owner and proprietor of Jett’s One Stop in Dovesville. She was a retired medical caregiver. She also retired from Florence-Darlington Technical College Board of Trustees after 27 years of service.

Annie loved gardening, traveling, politics, and was a pillar in the Dovesville community. She was Assistant Leader of the Graham Tent #194.

Annie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish the memory of Mrs. Annie Douglas Jett are: her children: Carol Jett of Darlington, Pauline (Peter) Larkins of Reston, VA, Samantha (Veldon) Stoddard of Lake Spivey, GA, and Henry(Alisa) Jett, Jr. of Darlington; Grandchildren: Adrian(Travis) Louis, Chelsea (LaQuan) Jeffrey, Maya Stoddard, and McKinnzey Larkins; Great Grandchildren: Cameron Jett, Jr., Laila Jeffery, and Camille Jett; Siblings: Danny Douglas, Jr., Meridith Robinson, Linda (Reverend Warren) Spearman, Catherine (James) McCracken, and Patricia Douglas all of Darlington; brothers and sisters-in-law: David (Margie) Jett, Raleigh Jett, Jr., and Nora Lee Robinson; a special friend, Wilson Dupree; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friendswho mourn her passing.

Those that preceded her in death are: her parents: Dannie and Evelyn Douglas; her husband, Henry Jett, Sr.; grandson, Zachary Stoddard; brothers and sisters-in-law: Nehemiah Robinson, James Robinson, Grace Douglas, Debra Jett, and Juanita Douglas.

Eulia M English-Kershaw August 21, 1936 - May 26, 2022

Eulia Mae English-Kershaw, 85, widow of Charles Kershaw, Sr., was born August 21, 1936 in Sumter County to the late Daniel English, Sr. and Elouise English. She went home to glory suddenly on May 26, 2022. She attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1954 and then moved to New York City to be with other family members. She was a faithful, resourceful and proud military wife and mother who assumed full responsibilities for raising a house full of boys. She joined High Hills Baptist Church early in life and said she drew her father into the church. Her faith and love of the Lord was never in doubt and often on full display. Sundays in church was a constant facet of her life, wherever she lived. She was a part of several choirs, a Trustee wife and a financial supporter of several different churches that she attended, throughout her life. Precious memories will always be cherished by her sons, Darrell E. Kershaw of Atlanta, GA, Charles W. Kershaw, Jr. of Sumter, Keith A. (Maxine) Kershaw of Columbia, Elliott T. (Francehelle) Kershaw of Nashville, TN, Martin M. (Lisa) Kershaw of Columbia; sister, Katherine (David) Taylor of The Poconos, PA; brothers, Joseph (Angel) English and Daniel, Jr. (Jim) English, of Myrtle Beach, Earl (Dorothy) English of Atlanta, GA, Reggie (Jeanette) English of Fairfax, VA; one brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; her favorite grandson, Quentin had a very special place in her heart; twenty two other grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 2140 Highway 261 South, Wedgefield.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at High Hill Baptist Church, 6750 Meeting House Road, Dalzell, with Rev. Donald Amos, Pastor, Eulogist. The procession will leave the home at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be in the High Hill Baptist Church Yard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Sumter Senior Services or Sumter School District.

Willis Alphonzo Weaver March 2, 1948 - May 22, 2022

Willis Weaver Sr. 74, died May 22, 2022 at his home in Hemingway, SC.

Willis was born March 2, 1948 in Georgetown, SC to the late Victor and Carrie (Suggs) Weaver.

After graduating from Eastern High school in Washington DC, he went on to work at Gallaudet University where he became fluent in American Sign Language. He enjoyed reading many genres of books and watching Westerns.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Thomas Weaver and Victor Weaver; and sisters Maxine Weaver and Emma Scott.

He is survived by his daughter Erica Lewis (Andre); 3 sons Willis Weaver Jr. (Kim), Jason Weaver Sr. (Lakeisha), Benjamin Weaver (Sonya); his brother James Weaver; special friend Ann Lewis; 11 grandkids, a great-granddaughter, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Eva Lee "DollBaby" Lowery August 5, 1958 - May 30, 2022

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Lowery family share the passing of Ms. Eva Lee Lowery, better known as "DollBaby". Ms. Lowery passed on Monday, May 30, 2022 in a Florence Hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be shared in the coming days.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence, 1417 Society Hill Road, Darlington.

Jonathan Gathers, Jr. November 11, 1957 - May 21, 2022

Jonathan Gathers, Jr. was born on November 11, 1957 to Staff Army Sergeant Jonathan Gathers, Sr. and Sue Ellen Gathers in Greeleyville, SC where he grew up and also attended Williamsburg County Public Schools and Williamsburg Technical College.

He worked in the commercial trucking industry for over 20 years and retired at Sonny Peterson Trucking, Inc. headquartered in Minnesota.

Johnathan Gathers, Jr. spent his final years in Salisbury, NC where he peacefully departed on May 21, 2022

He was preceded in death by his loving parents Jonathan Gathers, Sr. (Mar. 1998) and Sue Ellen Gathers (Jan. 1995). He leaves to mourn his memories his brothers Michael Gathers (Verlinda), Kenneth Gathers (Shaunette), Robert Gathers (Zena), and Sister Janice Gathers.

Nieces Iesha Lewis, LaKesha Flowers, Francesca Gathers, Roger Gathers, Shakira Gibbons, Meagan Jackson, Kiarra Gathers, Siera Gathers, Precious Gathers, Christine Gathers, Jeanne Gathers, Chasity Young, and Courtney Gathers.

He also leaves to cherish in memory his Aunts Miriam "Barbara" Gathers, Margaret Sessions, Betty Rankin, Ellaree Watson, Gladys Watson, Uncle Larry Watson and many cousins, great nieces, and nephews.

Laura Denise Hamilton-Daniel September 27, 1973 - May 26, 2022

On Thursday, May 26, 2022, Laura Denise Hamilton-Daniel exchanged time for eternity at her residence.

Born on Thursday, September 27, 1973, in Kokomo, Indiana, she was a daughter of Rev. Mary Davis Hamilton and the late Katheroy Hamilton.

Services celebrating her life will take place on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 3:00pm from the Greater Union Cypress A.M.E. Church, 8247 Highway 260, Manning, where the Rev. Mary Davis Hamilton serves as pastor. The Rev. Roberta Montgomery, pastor of the Chapel A.M.E. Church, Paxville, will bring words of comfort.

Public viewing will take place on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, during the hours of 4:00pm - 6:00pm from the Fleming & DeLaine Chapel, 222 West Boyce St.

The family is receiving relatives and friends from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at the residence, 7257 Summerton Hwy., Pinewood, SC. Masks are required.

Fleming & DeLaine Funeral Home and Chapel of Manning is assisting the Hamilton and Daniel families.

Laquinton Laster May 5, 1986 - May 26, 2022

Laquinton Laster formerly of Loris passed on May 26, 2022 in Sumter, SC. There will be a viewing held Saturday June 4, 2022 from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel. Funeral services will be held on June 10, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Loris High School. Burial will follow after the service at St. Paul AME church cemetery in Little River, SC.
