Mary Diane "Bouncy" Joint April 5, 1963 - June 15, 2022

Ms. Mary Diane Joint, also known as “Bouncy” was born on April 5, 1963 in Darlington, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Jessie Bell Lawrence Joint and the late Monroe Joint, Sr. Mary departed from us peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 in Hartsville, SC under the care of her beloved niece and nephew, Pamela Joint Thomas and Michael Nikita Joint.

Mary received her formal education in the Darlington County Public schools graduating from Rosenwald High School in 1981 where she remained an active member of the Rosenwald Alumni Foundation. She was a multitalented woman who undertook a variety of trades. In her teenage years, like the other women in the Joint family, her first job was at Johnny’s Truck Stop in Society Hill, SC. It is no secret that Mary enjoyed the night life and hanging out with her closest friends. At Club Hideaway, Mary’s fiery personality and slick tongue earned her the legendary nickname “Bouncy.” Later, she enjoyed a career in construction with PPM, Inc also in Society Hill, SC before becoming a machine operator with Mohawk Industries in Bennettsville, SC. Following the passing of her beloved son, Ronard “Squirt” Joint, Mary was inspired to become a home health caregiver with Open Hands Nursing Agency of Florence. Mary was a born nurturer, and she flourished in her career caring for others. Therefore, she did not hesitate to care for her ill brother Monroe, sister Plum, and her beloved mother Jessie in their last days.

Survivors left to cherish her memory are: four brothers: Bernard (Yvonne) Joint, Sammie Lee Joint, Ernest (Sheila) Joint, Sr. and Levern Joint all of Darlington, SC; three sisters: Emma (Morris) Lowery, Linda Joint, and Elaine Smith all of Darlington, SC; one sister-in-law: Sharon Joint; also left to cherish her memories are her best friends: Patricia Lowe and Corinthian Smith.

“Aunt Ann” as she was affectionately known to a host of nieces and nephews did not bite her tongue or play about those she referred to as her children. She was the ideal example of the favorite auntie. Mary will forever be loved and remembered by numerous members of her extended family, the Smith, Jackson, and Gattison families. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Monroe Joint, Sr.; her mother, Jessie Bell Joint, her cherished son Ronard “Squirt” Joint, her siblings: Willie Michael Lawrence, Mary Ella Joint, Monroe “Shortman” Joint, Jr., Elizabeth “Plum” Jones, and her beloved niece Jackqueline “Moo-Moo” Lowery.

ShaVase Damien George September 30, 1986 - June 15, 2022

ShaVase Damien George, son of Johnny Lee Floyd and Carolyn J. George, was born on September 30, 1986 in Sumter. The Lord decided that Damien’s work on earth was done. He departed his earthly life on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at his home. Damien graduated from Job Corps in 2006. He worked at various plants doing productive work and was employed with Continental Tire at the time his passing. He was affectionately called “Dame Daddy” or Don Vito”. He was a loving son, father, finance’, brother, uncle and cousin. He leaves to cherish his memories: his parents, Johnny Lee Floyd and Carolyn J. George; one son, Sire’ George; one daughter, Sunday Murray; sisters, Tywanna Jackson, Deidre (Johnaton) Thomas, Leonne (James) Gallishaw, Marie Parker and Chiquita Dinkins; brothers, Johnaton (Demetra) Floyd, Michael Floyd, Christopher Jackson, Roger Fuller, Reginald George, Rashard Brisbon, Quentin (Shaneka) Floyd; eighteen nieces; sixteen nephews; aunts, Inez Smalls, Bertha Tedder of Yonkers, New York and Dorothy Charles of Sumter; uncles, James Floyd, Ernest and Darrell Dunham; great uncles, Leroy Floyd and John Floyd, and a host of other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitations at the home, 123 Anderson Street, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 1:00 p. m. in the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Clifton Witherspoon, Eulogist. The procession will leave from the home at 12:30 p. m. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Yard Cemetery, 4620 Quinn Chapel Road, Dalzell.

Cleo J. Williams April 5, 1922 - June 19, 2022

It is with our deepest regard we announce the transitioning of Mrs. Cleo J. Williams, 100, of 337 East Lydia Highway entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 19, 2022.

Public viewing and visitation on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 2:00 - 6:00 PM at Hines Funeral Home-Hartsville. Funeral service on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Centenary United Methodist Church.

Anthony D. Mack September 27, 1970 - June 15, 2022

Anthony Dwayne Mack was born September 27, 1970, in Dallas, TX; he was the son of Clayton Talver and Doris Mack; he departed this earthly life Friday, June 17, 2022.

He attended Saint Columbus Catholic School and Central High School in Newark, NJ, and he later went to Job Corps. Anthony was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was a Jr. Deacon. He was a church going man. Anthony was employed at Florence Morning News. During his leisure time, he enjoyed playing chess, fishing, and writing poems.

Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Doris Smith; five children, Wayne Mosley, James Mosley, Ashley Mosley, Karmora Mack, Ebony Mack; one brother, Germain Smith; aunts, Mary Smith, Diana Mack, Honey Bee Mack, Poopsy Mack; three uncles, Willie Mack, Jimmy Mack, Terry Mack; four grandchildren, Alani Mosley, Nadie Mosley, Trevor Mosley, Jesara Mosley; one sister-in-law, Kassandra Smith; and a host of other family and friends.

Caleb Levonta Boatwright January 4, 2003 - June 16, 2022

Brother Caleb Levonta Boatwright was 19, and departed this life Thursday June 16, 2022 in Marion County. He was the son of Kim Hall and the late Tyrand Boatwright. You may visit the family at 808 Jaycee Terrace, Marion.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Friday June 24, 2022 at 1:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Marion.

The family of Brother Caleb Levonta Boatwright in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state, and local community, will hold a 100 person or less funeral service for their loved one with interment immediately following.

John Wesley Stuckey, Sr. December 25, 1944 - June 17, 2022

John Wesley Stuckey was born December 25, 1944, in Johnsonville, SC to Mr. William P. Stuckey and Mrs. Ruth (Woodberry) Stuckey; he entered eternal rest Friday, June 17, 2022.

John attended Johnsonville Elementary and High School. He was employed as a mechanic at Ham’s Auto Sales for twenty-six years.

At an early age, he along with his father, mother, and siblings attended Saint Mark A.M.E. Church.

John, better known as JW, was very personable, energetic, encouraging, and knew how to fix a car, truck, and above all, knew where to get the car parts cheaper than the dealership’s price.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William P. Stuckey and Ruth Woodberry Stuckey; sisters, Hermenia McCray, Elizabeth Jordan, Lillie Mae Robinson; and brother, William James Stuckey.

Left to cherish his precious memories are his wife of the home, Mrs. Ella Stuckey; five children, David (Melba) Stuckey, John Welsey (Sharon) Stuckey. Jr., Wayne Coleman, Diane (Andy) Green and Stuart Stuckey; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Robinson and Annie Ruth Eaddy of Florence, SC; one brother-in-law, Reverend Preston Robinson of Florence, SC; and a host of family and friends.

Janet Alford Moore September 29, 1955 - June 16, 2022

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Inc. and members of the Alford Family share the transition of Ms. Janet Alford Moore of Hickory, NC, formally of Darlington, SC. Ms. Moore passed on Thursday, June 16, 2022 in Hickory, NC.

Funeral service is 12:00 Noon on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Greater Gethsemane Apostolic Church, Florence. Interment will follow at Round O Baptist Church Cemetery.
