Robert Nelson, 90, died Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter, SC. He was born July 12, 1932 in Manning, SC. A son of the late James Nelson and Janie Scott Nelson. He was a proud Veteran that served in the U.S. Army.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Hayes F. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 North Church St. Manning, SC. Burial will follow in Florence National Cemetery, Florence, SC.

Mildred Alberta Smalls Green, 91, widow of Lewis Green, Sr., and daughter of the late Fredrick Smalls and Arelou Willis Smalls, was born on September 4, 1931 in

Sumter County. She departed this life on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Prisma Health Tuomey in Sumter, SC.

Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 2-6pm at Job’s Mortuary.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon, Thursday, September 22, 2022 at St. James United Methodist Church, 720 Broad Street, Sumter, SC 29150 with Pastor Allen Nesmith, and Pastor Eli Rojas, Jr., Officiating

Interment will follow in Dicks Cemetery

Family will receive friends at 3205 Charles Jackson Street, Dalzell, SC 29040

Daisy Evelyn Smith, May 26, 1928 - September 15, 2022

Daisy Evelyn Ragin Smith, 94, died on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the home in Summerton, SC. She was born on Saturday, May 26, 1928, in the Saint Paul Community of Summerton, SC.

The family will receive friends at the home, 1045 Ohio St., Summerton, SC, beginning on Monday, September 19, 2022, from 2pm-8pm daily.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022 at King-Fields Mortuary, Summerton, SC, from 4pm-7pm.

Funeral services are set for, Saturday, September 24, 2022, 11:30 am at Liberty Hill AME Church, Summerton, SC. Mask are required to be worn at the during visitation with the family and the funeral service.

Ms. Smith is peacefully resting in the professional care of King-Fields Mortuary.

Ret. Sgt. Wayne Woods, Sr., August 4, 1957 - September 14, 2022

Ret. Sgt. Wayne Woods Sr. departed this life for the next on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at his home, 4598 Lodebar Rd, Sumter.

He was born August 4, 1957 to Mary Woods Johnson and the late Leroy Woods, Sr. He joined the Antioch United Methodist Church at a young age. He graduated from Maywood High School in 1976.

Upon graduating from High School, he joined the United States Army and served his Country for 20 years before retired to his hometown of Sumter. He worked at the Department of Corrections, Lee County, after retirement. His hobbies were playing basketball, pool and bowling.

He is survived by his son, Wayne Woods, Jr. of Sumter, and Larry Woods of New Jersey; grandchildren, Anthony, Nicayah, Zabien, Zabionn, Payton, Paige, and Judah; a loving mother, Mary Woods Johnson of Blythewood; two brothers, James (Cynthia) Woods, Olin Woods both of Sumter; three sisters, Francenia (Herman) Vaughn of Sumter, Evelyn (Newton) Loo of Lagrangeville, N. Y. and Carrie (Reginald) Taylor of Blythewood; sister-in-law, Helen Woods; a special friend, Diane Johnson and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Woods and daughter, Temieka Marie Woods; his father, Leroy Woods, Sr.; his brother, Leroy Woods, Jr.; his grandparents, John and Ethel Woods, Maggie Jackson and Pansy and Shepard Jackson.

In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitations at 312 Overlook Drive, Blythewood.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a. m., Thursday, September 22, 2022 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Marvis Stewart, Pastor of Antioch United Methodist Church, officiating and the Rev. Devon Wright, pastor of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Cades, Eulogist.

Burial will be12:00 noon in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, with full military honor.

Lakenya Barr, September 19, 1982 - September 15, 2022

Sister Lakenya Barr, was 39 and departed this life Thursday September 15, 2022 in Marion County. She was the daughter of James Barr, the mother of Rakyah Barr, Keelan Barr and Rashawn Whitaker. You may visit the family at 6507 Katie Dr. Latta, SC.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the True Faith Deliverance Temple, Mullins on Saturday September 24, 2022 at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest at Fork Chapel AME Church Cemetery.
