Early Results Of Florence City Council Special Election Shows William Schofield Winner
April 01, 2021
Results of the Florence City Council special election shows William Schofield has won the race for Florence City Council District One. District One was formerly held by now Florence Mayor Teresa Myers-Ervin, who refused to endorse LaShonda NeSmith-Jackson, even though Jackson is a fellow Democrat.
District One has been held by a black representative for over 30 years, and was designed to create balance and make sure black residents in Florence would have representation.
Some in the black community say it is an afront, and a step back in the progress the community is trying to make.
A healthy Florence County requires great community news.
