**Racial Justice Network**
The Racial Justice Network, a civil rights organization will be holding a Press Conference, on behalf of Jamal Sutherland’s case. We are requesting full transparency from Al Cannon Police Department, the 9th Circuit Solicitor's Office, and SLED. On behalf of the organization we expect full cooperation from the above parties about the incidents that occured on January 04, 2021-January 05, 2021.
The Racial Justice Network and the public want to know all details and the events that took place leading up to the death of Jamal Sutherland. We demand all footage pertaining to this incident to be released and shared with the public in hopes of bringing Justice to Sutherland's family. The organization raises questions and concerns because we know the system failed Jamal because there are proper procedures, protocols, and treatments in place to prevent incidents such as this from occurring.
Jamal suffered from a mental health illness with no prior criminal history, but he was still treated as a criminal. Jamal’s civil rights were violated and his character was belittled and disrespected. This type of treatment should not happen to anyone, especially an individual with a mental disability, and these behaviors will not be tolerated. The Racial Justice Network is asking for all support. The Press Conference will be located at 3900 Leeds Ave. Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at 10:00 am.
