*Obituary of Tammy Govan*

Mr. Tammy Carnell “Tee” Govan, the son of Ruth and the late Tommy Govan was born May 10, 1971. He departed this life Saturday, May 1, 2021.

His formal education included Holmes Elementary School in Florence, South Carolina, Saint John Elementary School in Lynchburg, South Carolina, and was a proud graduate of Mayewood High School Class of 1989 in Sumter, South Carolina.

“Tee” as he was affectionately called, attended Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church in Florence, South Carolina in good and regular standing, until his health declined.

Tee joined South Carolina Army National Guard in C Battery 4 / 178th Field Artillery in Manning, South Carolina. He served 11 years in the United States Army 24th Infantry Division in Fort Stewart, Georgia and was deployed to the Middle East.

Tee was the type of person who never let anything worry him and whatever life sent that’s what he worked with. He was happy go lucky, fun tobe around, and loved his family dearly.

Tee was preceded in death by his, father, Tommy Govan; paternal grandparents, William and Carrie Govan; and maternal grandparents, Willie and Lillie Bell Coleman.

Tee leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Veronica Newsome Govan of West Memphis, Arkansas; a son, Darius Govan of Atlanta, Georgia; his mother, Ruth Govan of Lynchburg, South Carolina; two brothers, Michael Govan of Atlanta, Georgia and Willie Andrew Govan of Lynchburg, South Carolina; one sister, Michele Govan of Lynchburg, South Carolina; two stepdaughters, Paris Newsome and Amanda Williams both of West Memphis, Arkansas; one stepson, Julian Williams of Henderson, Kentucky; two nieces, O’Quana Myers and Fanosha Myers; one great nephew, Jaceyon Leary; a special uncle and aunt, Willie and Elizabeth Coleman; a special cousin, Kira Coleman-Ocampo,; two special friends, Tavin Baxter and Morris Goodman; and a host of other relatives and friends.

*Obituary of Dr. James Gitau Wairimu*

Dr. James Gitau Wairimu, was born on March 21, 1990, in Nairobi Kenya. He was the last born child/son to the late Teresia Wairimu Gitau. He was a brother to Margaret Nduta Wairumu, Jane Wanjiru Wairimu and the late John Gachoka,

Education:

Dr. James Wairimu completed his primary school education in Ruai Primary school and proceeded to Kiruri high school for his secondary education.

On completion of his secondary education, he joined the Kenya Methodist University for his undergraduate studies and in 2013, he was awarded a Bachelor's Degree in Business Information Technology. He later was awarded a scholarship at Tennessee State University from 2014 up to 2016 and was awarded a Master’s Degree in Agribusiness Management and Analysis. Because of his desire to excel in education, he proceeded and enrolled for a Doctoral program at The University of Texas Rio Grande and in 2020, his dream came true when he was awarded a Doctorate degree (PhD.) in Business Administration Information Systems.

During his studies, he was fortunate to get employment in different capacities and worked as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant from 2016 to 2020. He served as Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the Francis Marion University, in Florence, South Carolina from August 2020.

Dr. Wairimu’s family was notified of his passing on April 28, 2021. His death was sudden and unexpected due to suspected seizures while he was asleep in his apartment. He died in Florence, South Carolina.

Dr. Wairimu is survived by his two sisters Margaret Nduta Wairimu & Jane Wanjiru Wairimu, his aunties Alice Kimani (US), Joyce Gitau (Kenya), and uncles Bernard Mwangi (Kenya) and John Wanyoike (Kenya). He is uncle to Kevin, Sharon, Nelson & Joe, Waweru, Trizah & Lucy. Cousin to Dr. Kimani & Josephine, Patricia & Sean, Christine, Anthony, Moses (US); Agnes & Simon, Gitau-Kamande, Rose & Njeri; Gitau-Wanyoike, Christine, Anne; MaryJoan, Lucia, Luke & Deborah; Angela-Linda & Emmanuel-David.

Funeral arrangements:

Dr. Wairimu was laid to rest on Friday, May 7, 2021 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dr. Wairimu’s death is not news we as a family thought we would have to share. He has been taken away from us too soon. He was such a humble person, a pillar for this family, always willing to help, such a hard worker and above all, a loving person.

We loved “Daura,” as we all fondly called him, very much, but God loved him more. Rest easy Daura, till we meet again.
