GOP Pleads Fifth Amendment On January 6th Riot

To put it simply, the Repugnikkkan Party in the United States has copped a Fifth Amendment plea, when it comes to the treasonous Jan. 6 rebellion and attempted overthrow of the democratically elected government. And the way things are proceeding concerning new voting restrictions, they’re not going to need to steal their way into power in the future. They’ve already rigged the system in their favor.

Technically, invoking the Fifth Amendment cannot be equated with an admission of guilt, but in many instances, it’s interpreted as being pretty suspicious. The applicable Constitutional text reads: “No person shall be…compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself…” It is the presumption of innocence to which all white people are entitled. In other words, the suspect cannot be forced to prove his/her own guilt.

It’s when we get to cases where a person is not accused, when refusing to testify because their truthful testimony might incriminate them — that’s when taking the Fifth Amendment looks suspicious.

In the case of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol — the worst such breach since the Civil War, and even then, the Confederate Battle Flag was never flown inside — Repugnikkkan Senators and House members were complicit with the traitorous mob and the seditious U.S. President, and they want no part of an honest, trusted tribunal, reporting the true facts to the public.

Like the twice-impeached former president, they know full well that some of their members gave guided tours of the Capitol’s elaborate tunnels on the days leading up to the attack. The House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) knows that he in fact spoke to Donald J. Trump while the siege was taking place. McCarthy wants no parts of a report which reveals to the world what he and The Donald had to say while this criminal attack was underway.

Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.), an acolyte who is loyal to Trump, falsely claimed during a House hearing that the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was more like a “normal tourist visit.” The only problem is that he is pictured helping Capitol Police barricade the doors leading to the House floor when his “tourist” friends were trying to break in and do harm to Congress members, particularly House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). There’s no way Clyde would want to have his name authorizing a report that would make him out to be a bald-faced lying bucket of excrement.

If any of those members who sided with or gave comfort to the lawbreakers, had voted to approve a fair, bipartisan commission to investigate and report on that lawlessness, it would be like authorizing testimony against themselves. So, most GOP members took the Fifth, that is, invoked their constitutional privilege to not authorize an investigation which would reveal their guilt.

And Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) does not want an impartial, fair-minded report that would reveal that he and his buddies are no better than the Proud Boys-Oath Keepers-thugs who stormed the seat of the U.S. government with the intention of overthrowing the legal, duly authorized, 2020 presidential election, simply because their slimy, whore-mongering, frequently bankrupted candidate who was certified to have told more than 16,000 lies during his four years in office, lost the contest fair and square.

These crooks are worse than the mobsters whom we saw and read about committing despicable acts and getting away with it by bribing and murdering law enforcement officials in crime novels and movies, because these creepy Republikkkans in the House and the Senate are themselves the crooked law officers and judges.

Even Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, tweeted out a congratulatory welcome message and her “love” to the mob on Jan. 6. “GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU STANDING UP or PRAYING!” she wrote to the mob. She has since deleted that message, and not tweeted again since Jan. 8.

They all know “the deal.” Most of the GOP members were in on it. They don’t give a hoot about the high-sounding principles they profess. All they care about is maintaining the power of their tribe that believes in white supremacy, not in “democracy,” constitutional law or “equal justice for all.”

The GOP just wants to rule, and their members have revealed that all they’re concerned about is holding on to absolute power, no matter who or what they have to crush in the process of holding on to it.

On the “advice of counsel,” they decline to authorize an investigation because the truth will incriminate them.
