**Florence County Library Virtual Summer Book Club**

The Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library’s Book Club has selected the following books to read and discuss during the summer season. Book Club is held in the Joseph T. Stukes Room of the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Library on the third Thursday of each month at 1:00 p.m.

July 15 – Redhead by the Side of the Road by Anne Tyler, is the twenty-third novel by award-winning, bestselling American author, Anne Tyler.

August 19 – This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger – In mid-America during the Great Depression, four orphaned children escape a Native American boarding school and canoe down the Mississippi seeking a home.

**The Metropolitan Opera Presents Yannick: An Artist’s Journey**

The Metropolitan Opera presents Yannick: An Artist’s Journey, a feature-length documentary by award-winning filmmaker Susan Froemke that profiles the Met's Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Following the maestro’s inspiring journey from ten-year-old budding conductor to the pinnacle of the opera world, the film captures the alchemy of the creative process and explores what it means to refine the soul of an artist.

**South Carolina Sales Tax Free Weekend Set For August 6-8**

South Carolina's annual sales tax holiday will happen four days after Florence One Schools students return to school. The South Carolina Department of Revenue announced Tuesday, June 22nd that the sales tax holiday offering shoppers an opportunity to save the state sales tax and any applicable local taxes on computers and printers, clothes and shoes, school supplies and certain bed and bath items purchased in store or online would be held from Friday, Aug. 6 to Sunday, Aug. 8. Florence One Schools students are set to return to the classroom on Monday, Aug. 2 as part of the district's move to a year-round calendar.

**Morning At The Museum At The Jennings-Brown House In Bennettsville**

Morning at the Museum is back! Please note the new day will be the THIRD THURSDAY of the month, rather than the first Monday. And our very first open house will take place at the JENNINGS-BROWN HOUSE (121 S. Marlboro Street) rather than the main museum. We want to show off this beautiful, ca. 1826 historic house which is now open for tours again post-pandemic. Please join us for coffee, muffins and fellowship between 10 AM and 12 PM.

**Summer Camps And Programs 2021**

Florence Family YMCA: The Florence Family YMCA offers a Summer Day Camp with all the special activities that make summer fun! This camp is for children entering K-5 through 6th grade. Hours are from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Camp runs all summer long in weekly sessions. You can choose to come all summer or select certain weeks.

Girls University Summer Camp: Camps are centered around improving the well-being of girls. They believe in each girl's individuality and intentionally focus on three key areas: creativity, education, and passion. Camp themes and offerings vary by the week and focus on science, technology, engineering, creative arts, and academics. Camps are for girls, rising 5K through 6th grade. Topics include roller coaster engineering, cooking science, career exploration, cosmetic chemistry, robot building, slime tennis lessons & more!

Driven by Dance Studio (Quinby): Join Driven by Dance for their Summer Dance Camp. For ages: 3-12. The camp is Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided. The activities include math, reading, games, and dance.

**Market On Market Farmers Market In Downtown Cheraw**

Market on Market has returned for the summer! Join us near the Theatre on the Green every Third Saturday.

Local farmers from the Cheraw's Farmer Market will bring their produce to the downtown area for purchase. A variety of food items will be available for purchase from restaurants. Come check out different local vendors each month, walk downtown, and enjoy the live entertainment.
