United Way of Florence County To Host 30th Annual Day Of Caring

August 27, 2021

Florence, S.C. – United Way of Florence County (UWFC) is set to host their 30th Annual Day of Caring on Friday, September 17th.

UWFC’s Annual Day of Caring creates opportunities for individuals, companies, organizations, etc. to make a difference right here in our community by completing projects such as painting, yard work, construction, etc. for our Partner Agencies. Last year, over 30 companies participated in works of volunteerism across our county to help complete over 60 projects. This year, we have over 85 projects ready to be completed by generous volunteers in our community.

“This day gives us an opportunity to have projects completed that we just don’t have the expertise or funds to complete. The United Way Day of Caring allows us to maximize direct help to those who need us most and affords us the opportunity to continue providing services to families who are struggling to meet their basic needs,” stated Cecilia Meggs, Executive Director of Lighthouse Ministries.

Day of Caring isn’t just a benefit for United Way Partner Agencies; Day of Caring offers a team building opportunity for groups who come together to volunteer. Studies show that volunteering as a group increases morale and creates a sense of community.

“The United Way Day of Caring not only means a day where the community comes together to do good works, but it also means our community is full of people who want to do good works,” “We look forward to this day all year. We plan our needs around this day because we know that the community will step up and help their neighbor,” said Meggs.
