Obituary for Mother Edith Mae Brooks
Mrs. Edith Mae Muldrow “Sudie” Brooks, daughter of the late Moses Muldrow Sr. and Creola Ashley Muldrow was born in Florence County on September 13, 1934. She departed this life on February 11, 2022 at her resident at 7:54 am
She attended the public schools of Florence County. She retired from Florence Steam Laundry after over 30 years of service.
She was a member of St Matthews COGICJ where she accepted Christ as here Lord and Savior. She sung on the Gospel Choir and was the president of the Senior Choir until her health failed.
In 1953 she was joined in Holy matrimony to the late Jerome Brooks Jr., to this union was blessed with 10 children.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Brooks Jr; two sons, Noriga and Lee Samuel Brooks; two sisters, Eulia Thompson and Mildred Hamlin; two brothers, Jesse “Brother “Muldrow and Andrew “Sonny Boy” Muldrow and one great- great-grandson, Vicci Baggit.
Left to cherish precious memories are her children, Thaklin “TJ” Brooks and Jesse ”Duck” Brooks of the home; Vernieda McCray of Parkton, NC, Patsy (Quillie) Lewis of Timmonsville SC, Shirleen (Robert) Gamble of Effingham SC, Fonda Nowlin, Timothy (Ann) Brooks, and Curtis (Angela) Brooks all of Florence, SC; 21 Grandchildren, Natasha (Gregg), Carmen “Torrie” (Jason), Edwin (Yadhira), Theron (Kenjuana), Demesha, Antwan, Marquita (Fred), Quintin, Stacey (James), Malcolm, Lashayla, Brandon (Tara), Justin (La’Quesha), Aurbreanna, Chaquanna, Jordan, Ra’ven, Demetrius, Alexius, Jasmine, and Makayla; 24 great grands, Jasmine, Tyrelle, Irene, Jamel, Jamal, Makayla, Marques, X’ariah, Willie, Josiah, Sania’, Amaya, Xavier, Tyzavion, Malasia, Kayla, Shamaria. Obituary for Willie D. Seals
Willie D. Seals was born May 5, 1955, in Clio, SC. He was the son of the late David Seals and Catherine Meekie. He departed this life on February 12, 2022.
Willie attended Wilson High School in Florence, SC. After high school, he pursued his passion and became a truck driver. He drove trucks for over 50 years. His last employment was for Kirby Construction where he worked until his health declined.
In addition to driving trucks, Willie acquired a deep love of classic cars and western movies.
He is survived by his wife, Willie L. Shannon-Seals of Florence, SC; one son Kevin (Kim) Seals; two grandchildren, Jaquisha, and Keshawn; four great-grandchildren; his best friend, Leo Gregg and special cousin T. Brown along with a host of relatives and friends.

Obituary for Kathleen Forte
Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Kathleen Brailey Forte, who went to be with the Lord, after suffering an illness, at McLeod Regional Medical Center on February 9, 2022. Kathleen, who was affectionately called, “Pee Wee”, was born on October 18, 1940, in Darlington County. She was the daughter of the late William Taft Brailey and Sara Mae Smith Brailey. She lived her entire life in Darlington County and was educated in the public schools of the area. She received her CNA from Florence Darlington Technical Institute.
At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in McBee, S.C. She served faithfully on the Usher Board, Missionary Society and was a dedicated member of the Kitchen Committee; she later became a faithful member of Kay Branch Missionary Baptist Church, where she loved participating in Sunday school.
She was first united in marriage in 1957 to Carlessie Williams Sr. and from that union they were blessed with seven children. On May 11, 1984, she was united in holy matrimony with Thomas Forte where she acquired eight stepchildren.
Kathleen was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She treated her nieces and nephews like they were her own. She loved helping people and feeding them. You would never leave her presence hungry. She tried to feed everyone that she met, and her food was amazing. Cooking and baking were her passion, and you could tell by the taste of her biscuits. If you ever had one of her chocolate cakes, dumplings, or collard greens you were hooked for life. She took great pride in her cooking. Kathleen was a nurturer by nature and cared for many people before she became ill. She was an avid reader and loved listening to Lee Williams and the Spiritual QC’s.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her loving husband Thomas Forte, her father and mother, William Taft Brailey and Sara Mae Smith Brailey; stepchildren Mildred Forte, Willie Marion Forte and Gregory Forte, her brothers Willie Brailey, Daniel Brailey and Nathaniel Brailey, one sister, Anna Laura Evans and her best friend, Modestine Byrd.
Those left to cherish her memories are: five daughters, Leslie (Bonty) Jerman, Tena (Timothy) Forte, Ellen (Paul) Fox, Olive Mae (Daryl) Garner all of Hartsville, SC and Sophia (Dan) Williams-Shanks of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two sons, Carlessie (Carol) Williams Jr. of Hartsville, SC and Joseph Williams of Miami, Florida; one step-daughter, Katherine Hunter, four step-sons; Thomas (Sophia) Marine, Billy (Carolyn) Forte, Timothy (Tena) Forte all of Hartsville, SC and Zachary Forte of Florence, SC; siblings, Emma Jane (Jimmy) McDaniel, Carrie Wingate, Frankie (Chris) Brailey, Viola Jett, Lucinda Fountain; 10 grandchildren: Shemel (Laurence) Thomas, Eric (Kim) Williams, Timothy J. Forte, Paula (Mark) Wright, Regina Williams, Gabrielle (Drew) McCall, Maurice Fox, Danielle Garner, Brae Williams, Angelina Williams; fifteen great grandchildren, two close friends, Lois Forte and Shirley Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

Brother Sherwin Moses Jr. was 32, and departed this life Wednesday February 9, 2022 in Florence County. He was the husband of Raven Moses.
Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel Sunday February 20, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Services will be live-streamed on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.

Sister Sylvia L. Foxworth, age 73, departed this life on Monday, February 7, 2022, at MUSC in Florence, SC. She is the daughter of the late Doc Cleveland Willams and Lottie Roberts. She is the mother of Clay Foxworth of Florence, SC. Others left to cherish her memory are a niece, Velvet Miles, a nephew, Leon Miles, a cousin, Etta Howard, and special friends: Ellen Brockington, Big Cathy, and Lily Daniels.
Funeral services for Sister Sylvia Foxworth are scheduled for Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 2:00 pm in the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel located at 612 South Main Street in Marion, SC. She will be laid to rest at the Jackson & Daughters Cemetery located on Highway 76 in Marion, SC.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral service has a limited attendance of 50 or fewer invited guests.

Obituary for Virginia Lyde Martin
Mrs. Virginia Lyde Martin was born in Darlington County on April 20,1951 to the late Louise Stevenson Lyde. She entered quietly into eternal rest on Monday morning, February 7, 2022.
Mrs. Martin was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and was married to the late Quincy A. Martin. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her passing leaves a great void in the lives of her loving family members and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Quincy A. Martin, a son, Frederick Martin and three brothers, James Lyde, Chester Lyde and Roger Lyde.
Those who will cherish her loving memories are: two sons, Corey Martin and Timothy (Wanda) Martin; three sisters, Freddie Mae Lyde, Frankie Turner, and Maggie Lyde; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a host of other family and friends.
Obituary for Pearline R Scott
Pearline Rogers Scott was born October 8, 1945 in Lee County to the late Hosea and Doshia Rogers. She departed this life on Friday, February 11, 2022 at her home in Elliott surrounded by her loved ones. She received her education in Lee County public school system. After graduating from Mount Pleasant High School in 1964, she moved to Philadelphia, PA with her uncle and aunt Tommy and Gloria Thomas where she was introduced to the Lord as her personal Savior. She returned to South Carolina and later joined Gethsemane Apostolic Church where she served as Missionary President and vice President of the Pastor Aide department until her health began to fail. She leaves to cherish her memories: two children, Paulette (Jene) Eaddy of the home and Orlando (Wendy) Scott of Moncks Corner; her chosen blessed daughter, Rosie (Elbert) Lee; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; siblings are Ida (Lee) Ellis of Florence, Ann Belton of Orangeburg, Lee Rogers of Columbia, May R. Caesar of Mayesville; Hosea (Debbie) Rogers II of Oviedo Fla and Thelma (Steven) Graves of Columbia; four sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, god-children, other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 83 Sugar Hill Drive, Bishopville. The procession will leave the home at 12:20 p. m. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Gethsemane Apostolic Church, 769 Highway 76 West, Lynchburg, , with Bishop Calvin McNeil, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Gethsemane Apostolic Church Cemetery.
Obituary for Marshall Sanders, Sr.
Mr. Marshall Verlon Sanders, Sr. was born on August 21, 1950, in Ruffin, South Carolina. He was one of thirteen children born to the Late Malachi Sanders, Sr., and Carrie Bell Aiken Sanders. Marshall entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Colleton Medical Center.
He was educated in the public schools of Colleton County and graduated from Ruffin High School, in Ruffin, South Carolina. After graduating from Ruffin High School, he married the love of his life, Gloria Ruth Mitchell Sanders and started his family. He founded his own business, Marshall Sanders Logging. One of his greatest passions was horseback riding, so he built a ranch with his horse stables. Before his health failed, you would often see him riding along the road on one of his beautiful horses on a Sunday afternoon. Marshall was a great fan of Westerns, so it was natural for him to be dressed in his firmly starched jeans with a prominent belt buckle, shirt, and his famous cowboy boots and cowboy hat! He was a fun-loving person, who threw the best parties on his ranch! He was big, bold, and courageous, and didn’t mind telling you what was on his mind. One of the things that he loved most, besides his family, was giving; he had a big heart. Marshall was affectionately called dada by his grandchildren.
Marshall was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Alexa Lache Grayton; two sisters, and four brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; his beloved children: Tayawna Sanders, Michelle Dantzler, Marshall Sanders, Jr., Dameon Sanders, Kendra Sanders, and Kirstie Sanders; his heartstrings, his grandchildren: Chelsea Halyard-Mack, Petty Officer Amarery Sanders (Enkhtuya), Dameon Aaron Sanders, Private Shania Dantzler, Marshall Dylon Sanders, Andre Grayton, Jr., Amani Sanders, Cedric Shuler, Chad (CJ) Goff, Jr., Chloe Sanders; and an adopted son, Vashon Berry. Marshall is also survived by his mother-in-law, Orgie Ruth Mitchell; his brothers: Ernest Sanders (Ruby), Randolph Sanders, Joe Sanders (Blythe Mae), John Sanders (Loutricia); his sisters: Annie B. Williams (Rev. Joseph) and Dorothy Youmans; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Peter Sharpe, James Jones, and Kelvin Mitchell (Shirley); Madell Sanders, Annie Sanders, Doris Allen (Larry), Cheryl Mitchell-Brown (Leroy), Rev. Cathy Mitchell; and Leslie Jamison (Sam); a special friend, Pat Edwards; and a host of nieces and nephews, and his extended family and friends.
