The Chi Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., recognized the 2024 International Essay Contest Winners during the 2024 Achievement Week Founders Award Ceremony. The essay theme was “What impact do you believe that Social Media is having on Mental Health and Why is it Important to Address this Issue?”

Community members participate with youth during the Florence Police Department Unity with the Community Event.
The City of Florence Police Department hosted Unity with the Community on Saturday, July 15th at Levy Park (1405 E. Pine Street).
The community event featured one-on-one chats between the community and police department, as well as local vendors. The goal of the event was to build trust and relationships within the community and provide crime prevention tips.

AESC, a world-leading Japanese battery technology company, held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday on its new battery plant in Florence County, South Carolina.
In attendance were Gregg Robinson, Chief Executive Officer, Florence County Economic Development Partnership; Harry Lightsey, Secretary of Commerce; SC Governor Henry McMaster; Jeff Deaton, Managing Director, AESC US; Willard Dorriety, Chairman, Florence County Council; Rev. Waymon Mumford, Florence County Councilman, District 7; City of Florence Mayor Teresa Myers-Ervin; and Florence County Economic Development Partnership Chairman, Rocky Pearce.
AESC’s battery plant will be located across from Wilson High School.

Sorors gave out healthcare information and other items. The Chapter's Zeta of the year, Soror Nakisha Frazier was in the parade along with Zeta Amicae of the year, Ms. Pamela D. Williams
