August 16, 1962 - April 13, 2022

BORN: August 16, 1962 in Florence, South Carolina to Melba Tindal Planter and the late McNeil Planter, Jr.

EDUCATION: 1981 Graduate of South Florence High School, attended Florence Darlington Technical College, and University of South Carolina School of Business.
BOARD DUTIES: She held many organization and committee positions such as: President-Florence Athletic Hall of Fame for 3 years; Secretary – Florence Athletic for 3 years; Secretary – Adult Bush Baseball League; President - Neighborhood Homeowners Association

EMPLOYMENT: Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) where she worked as a Manager over 30 years until her health declined.

LOVED TO TRAVEL: Visited Greece, France, Belize, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Barcelona. Cruised many cruise lines to destinations abroad. There were no limits when it was time to travel.

PRECEDED IN DEATH: Father - McNeil Planter, Jr.; Fur Baby - Jazzy; Niece - Danah Burgess; and Best Friend - Blanche “Nee” Johnson

**Obituary For Vernell Jamison Lloyd**

November 15, 1927 - April 15, 2022

Vernell Jamison Lloyd was born to John and Alma Tucker Jamison on November 15, 1927 in Branchville, SC both parents predeceased her. The family was part of the Great Northern Migration to New York.

Vernell and Goveneur Patterson (deceased) was united in marriage April 12, 1948 to this union a loving and wonderful son was born Leonard (deceased).

Vernell and James Lloyd (deceased) were united in marriage on September 2, 1979. His unselfish love for her was boundless and unconditional.

Vernell retired from the Harris County Hospital District (Jefferson Davis Hospital as Assistant Director of Nurses and Grant Director for the Federal Healthcare Program for the Homeless).

Vernell confessed Christ as her Personal Savior at the age of 12 and lived a Fruitful Christian life. She remained connected and involved in the church. She loved hymns; she would sing along every chance she got as she was expressing her faith. She spent a lifetime caring for those who was unable to care for themselves.

In November 2019, Vernell moved to Florence, SC to be with her beloved niece LaDonna B. Pipkins. Vernell joined and fellowshipped virtually with Greater Gethsemane Apostolic Church under the leadership of Bishop Kenneth Swaringer.

In the wee hours on Good Friday morning, April 15, 2022, Vernell responded to the call of the Master and took her flight to her eternal home. She was a virtuous woman who will be sorrowfully missed by her family, extended family, and multitude of friends.

She has fought a good fight; she has kept the faith. God will wipe all tears away and there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor pain. All of that has gone forever.
She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted grand niece and nephew LaDonna B. and Alexis D. Pipkins, Sr of the home; great grandnephews, Alexis D. Pipkins, Jr of Columbia, SC, Thomas L. Pipkins of the home; great grandnieces, Brooke A. Pipkins and A’ Mari S. Pipkins of the home; four generations of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of extended family and friends around the country.

**Obituary For Charlie Willoughby, Jr.**

July 29, 1958 - April 14, 2022

Charlie Willoughby, Jr., a son of the late Charlie and Lillian Johnson Willoughby, Sr., was born July 29, 1958 in Norwalk, Connecticut. He departed his earthly life after a long term illness Saturday, April 16, 2022.

Charlie received his education in Florence District One schools and graduated with the Class of 1976 from South Florence High School Class.

At an early age, Charlie was baptized and joined Savannah Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Charlie served in the United States Marine Corps and later retired from the United States Army. While serving his country, Charlie met and married the love of his life, Angela Davis Willoughby. They were married for 39 years.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie J. Willoughby.

Those left to cherish his loving memories are his wife, Angela Willoughby; a son, Charlie (Trey) Willoughby III of the home; a sister, Idella (Michael) Gee; a brother, Samuel (Cynthia) Willoughby both of Florence, SC; sisters-in-law, Joyce Willoughby , Pensacola, FL, Bonnie Alton, Ernestine, Greta, Martha and Mary; one brother-in-law, Alphonso; step-mother, Azalee Willoughby; one step-sister, Michelle McBride both of Effingham, SC; three uncles, Harvey Willoughby, Sr., Malachi Johnson both of Philadelphia, PA, and Sidney Gilbert of Florence, SC; three aunts, Myrtle McDaniel, Olivia Willoughby both of Philadelphia, PA, and Ann Robinson of White Plains, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sister Betty Rose McClain was 66, and departed this life Sunday April 17, 2022 in Florence County. She was the mother of Miya McClain, Tasha McClain and Albert McClain Jr. You may visit the family at 1009 Spain Rd. Mullins.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the True Faith Apostolic Church, Chevy Road, Mullins on Saturday April 23, 2022 at 2:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Marion.

Apostle Itlean Cora Allen was 75, and departed this life Wednesday April 13, 2022 in Florence County. She was the mother of James Reaves and Jeffery Reaves. You may visit the family at 229 Sardis Rd. Apt. 506 Latta on Wednesday April 20, 2022.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Henry L. Jackson Memorial Park on Thursday April 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Centerville Church Cemetery, Centenary, SC. Services will be live-streamed on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.

Mrs. Emma Ann Smith Jordan was born to the late Wille Smith and Lillie Mae Joint Smith on January 10, 1953 in Darlington, SC. She peacefully entered her eternal resting place surrounded by family at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC on Monday, April 11, 2022.

She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools and graduated from Rosenwald High School, Class of 1973.

Emma confessed Christ at an early age and held to her faith until her eternal rest. She joined and was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Darlington, SC. For several years, she was a Dietician Supervisor at the Carriage House of Darlington, SC. She was gainfully employed by Cleaning World USA until her health began to fail. She was united in holy matrimony for 43 years to the love of her life, Kenneth J. Jordan. This union was blessed with two sons.

Emma enjoyed cooking, gardening, spending time with family and friends, and taking care of others. She always opened her doors to the kids in the neighborhood. She never met a stranger and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy’s fan. She always enjoyed the holidays and Christmas was her favorite.

Those left to cherish her precious memories are: her loving husband, Kenneth Jordan of the home; two sons: Lamont (Kimberly) Smith and Kendrick Jordan both of Darlington, SC; a grandson, Tyriq Smith of Darlington, SC; a step-daughter: Keisha Sellers and step-grandson: Braylan White both of Atlanta, GA; four children reared as her own: Kelvin Stuckey, Breyonna Caldwell, Damari Roary and Payton Roary; six sisters: Patricia S.
