Wilson Brown, Jr., February 13, 1938 - October 31, 2022

Wilson Brown, Jr. was born on February 13, 1938 in Cowards, South Carolina to the late Wilson Brown Sr., and Edith Eaddy Brown, He was called to join our Heavenly Father on Monday October 31. 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence South Carolina.

Wilson was affectionally known by his family and friends as “Junior”. He was educated in Coward, South Carolina school system.

Wilson lived most of his years in New York City, where he became an amazing self-taught reader. If you ever had a question on black history, he would be able to just from memory of reading tell you everything he knew on the matter.

Wilson enjoyed watching television and eating good food. he was a quiet man, but never afraid to speak his mind. Our family will forever miss Junior.

Upon returning from New York City to Florence, South Carolina to live with his aunt Eliza, after her death he was taken to nursing home facilities the last being the Carlyle Senior Care of Florence, South Carolina

Wilson was preceded in death by his brother Nathaniel Brown and his sister Bernice Brown – Lovell

He leaves to mourn: A host of nieces and nephews' cousins and friends.

A special cousin Thurmond Brown who was his care taker as well as cousin.

Ivory "Bobby" Nowlin, September 23, 1946 - October 29, 2022

Ivory “Bobby” Nowlin was born on September 23, 1946, in Florence, South Carolina. He was the youngest son of the late Louis Nowlin, Sr., and the late Alvenia Hawkins Nowlin. He entered eternal life on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

“Bobby” as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, attended Wilson High School, C/O 1964, Florence, SC and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree at Benedict College, Columbia, SC. He was employed and retired from Rock-Tenn Paper Mill, now known as WestRock Paper Mill in Florence, SC.

Early in life, he joined Meadow Prong Baptist Church, where he was baptized. He later joined Savannah Grove Baptist Church, where he served on the usher board.

He was a Vietnam Veteran, who served in the United States Army. He was also a member of the Reaching Out Organization, Meadow Prong Masonic Lodge #346 where he served as past secretary, and he was a proud dedicated life member of the Florence Alumni Chapter Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Louis Nowlin, Jr.; sisters, Noveline Nowlin Williams, and Mary Graham; brother-in-law, Herbert Lance; and nephew, Vincent Williams

Left to cherish precious memories are his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Lishie Spears Nowlin; son, Derek (Valerie) Nowlin; grandsons, Christopher R. Nowlin and Derius D. Nowlin; sister, Ella N. Lance; parents-in-law, Kenneth (Mamie) Spears, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Dr. Curtis Williams, Kenneth (Yvonne) Spears, Jr, Benjamin Spears, Odell (Joan) Spears, Anthony (Mary) Spears; sister-in-law, Jocerlyn (Col. Boice) Hardy, Sr.; special nieces and nephews, Frank McDaniel, Derek Williams, Dr. Shayla Williams, Dr. Lorenza Nowlin, Lamont Nowlin, and Ebony McDaniel; best friend like a brother, Royal (Dollie) Cummings; caregiver, Audrey Gamble and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Kappa and Masonic Rites will be at Savannah Grove Baptist Church, 6:30 PM.

Carrie Lee Lamar, December 17, 1935 - October 30, 2022

Mother Carrie Lee Lamar was 86, and departed this life Sunday October 30, 2022 in Marion County. She was the mother of Kevin Lamar, Keith Lamar, Nadine Harrell, Gloria Lamar Legette, Larry Lamar and Doretha Page. You may visit the family at 839 Bluestone Ct. Marion.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church on Sunday November 6, 2022 at 2:30 pm. She will be laid to rest at Devotion Gardens Cemetery, Mullins. Services will be live-streamed on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.

The family of Mother Carrie Lee Lamar in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state, and local community, will hold a 100 person or less funeral service for their loved one with interment immediately following.
