Dominion Voting Systems Lawsuit

by Op-Ed, Larry Jackson

During the runup to the 2016 Presidential Election and everyday since, the 45th President railed insistently about the existence of “Fake News.” He talked about it during the campaign and did so during his turbulent one term in office. I never in my life thought I would agree with anything this petulant, race baiting, xenophobic fascist said, but I must admit I was wrong. The Dominion Lawsuit brought against Fox News has given us an inside look at how the “Fake Sausage” is indeed made.

Dominion Voting Systems has filed at least eight defamation lawsuits against various parties, including Fox News, Sidney Powell, Rudy Giuliani, and Mike Lindell, for spreading false fraud claims about its machines during the 2020 election. Dominion Voting Systems is seeking more than $10 billion in damages and alleges that the defendants harmed its business and reputation. The lawsuits have been ongoing for more than a year with Dominion attempting to prove malice on the parts of those being sued. While there has been no evidence to substantiate any of the fraud claims involving Dominion’s equipment, this litigation has allowed the public to see that the pundits and newscasters (I use that term loosely) at Fox News allegedly communicated internally that the there was no widespread voter fraud committed during the 2020 Presidential Election. Additionally, this news outlet expressed its disdain for the guy it propped up and officially supported each night during his term in office. This deliberate miscommunication from Fox News, which helped the 45th President get over the finish line during his first run for the White House, exposes a network that knowingly helped to perpetuate the lie the there was widespread voter fraud during the 2020 national election.
The emails released during the lawsuit show that while the talking heads from Fox News publicly carried the former President’s water, they discussed privately that the 45th President lost the election. If that is not fake news, I do not know what is. Maybe it would be best described by the senior senator from South Carolina who said that “if somebody had told the 45th President that aliens came down and stole ballots, that he would’ve believed it.” The fact that a major news outlet would sign off on such is both crazy and alarming. Fox News positioned itself as a Fifth Estate Network, as it relates to influence regarding political policies. Perhaps Fox News should “plead the fifth” while fighting this lawsuit. So, there you have it! If you’re looking for a wholesome dose of bunk mixed in with a little hokum, tune in to Fox News, as this outlet is serving it up daily!
