SLED Charges Former Lexington County Deputy With Misconduct And Obtaining Signature Under False Pretenses

Agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Gabriel William Mulkey, 26, of Leesville, SC with Misconduct and Obtaining Signature Under False Pretenses.

From the dates of January 1, 2021 through September 14, 2022 Mulkey falsely obtained $2,677.14 in wage payments from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department (LCSD). Mulkey is alledged to have submitted timecards to LCSD in which he included hours he purportedly worked on official duty with these hours overlapped with hours he was working while on extra-duty details outside of his employment with LCSD. Mulkey alledgedly sumitted timecards obtaining a total of 132.25 hours of official duty hours worked and he was paid a total of $2,677.14 for hours worked during his extra-duty detail employment in violation of the LCSD Policies and Procedures.

SLED investigated the case at the request of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

Mulkey was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center.

The cases will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
