Sumter Black Chamber Partners With Liberty Steam Charter for Financial Literacy
The Sumter Black Chamber of Commerce has a pilot program geared towards financial literacy in small children.
Funds for the program were received from Unum Group, a division of Colonial Life Insurance. The Insurance group granted the chamber $10,000 in funds to help fight racism among residents in the Sumter Community and other areas across America. Financial literacy is believed to effect how families survive. Liberty Steam Charter School has an extended school year and during this time it also includes extra enrichment courses.
Financial Literacy is one of the focus areas and the children will spend time with Safe Federal Credit Union to Learn best practices at their age level. At the end of the week they will receive donations from the Sumter Black Chamber of Commerce that includes a book entitled A Boy, A Budget, & a Dream, also a workbook that goes with the book.
