SLED Charges Richland County Man With Accessory To Attempted Murder

Agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Daniel Eugene Hutto II, 20, of Columbia, SC, on June 12, 2023, with Accessory before the fact to Attempted Murder.

On March 2, 2023, SLED Low Country Region was requested by Chief Timothy Taylor of the South Carolina State University Police Department (SCSUPD) to investigate a shooting incident that occurred at a party on campus.

According to arrest warrants on, or about March 3, 2023, at South Carolina State University in the County of Orangeburg, Daniel Eugene Hutto II, is alledged to have committed the offense of Accessory before the fact. The defendant is alledged to willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously aid in the commission of a felony, namely Attempted Murder by providing the co-defendant with a firearm which the co-defendant then discharged into a crowd of people, injuring at least one person.

Hutto was booked at the Orangeburg County Detention Center. The case will be prosecuted by the 1st Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
