Mr. Phillip James Rogers “PJ” Rogers the son of Margaret Barr Rogers and Abraham Rodgers was born on Sept 20,1936 in Sumter County, South Carolina. He departed his life on June 17, 2023, at home.

He attended Sumter County public school in his early years. He worked with his daddy on the farm as a sharecropper during his younger years until his daddy passed. He worked several years on railroad, interstate 95, Sumter Milk Dairy. His last job was at Campbell soup company in Sumter, SC where he spent many years as a Mechanical Technician until retirement.

He also served on the Usher board, as a Trustee and Senior Deacon at Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church in Olanta, South Carolina until his passing.

He married Pearline Smith in November 1956 in Lynchburg, South Carolina. “PJ” leaves to mourn: his wife Pearline Rogers; four children, Abraham (Hazel) Rogers of Olanta, SC, Willene Rogers of Columbia, South Carolina, Henry James Rogers, of Sumter, South Carolina and Direatha (Ronnie) Cleaver of Columbia, South Carolina; three grandchildren Adria(Trina) Rogers- Felder and Torin Martin of Columbia, South Carolina and, Mieyah Rogers of Rock Hill, South Carolina; one great grandson, Aiden Jaxson Felder; a sister, Marie (Albert) Fulton of Miami, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Miss Barbara Ja’nia Sports was born on April 19, 2008 in Florence, South Carolina to her loving parents Julian and ShaRhonda Sports. She departed this earthly life at 5:51 PM, June 12, 2023 at Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

She was a rising Sophomore of Wilson High School in Florence, South Carolina.
Barbara was a member of Life Tabernacle in Florence, South Carolina where she sang on the choir.

Barbara was a very outgoing young lady, no one was ever a stranger to her. She was so compassionate, sweet and kindhearted. She will be truly and greatly missed by her family and friends.

Barbara loved to play the bass guitar and enjoyed painting. Spending time with her family and friends were some of the greatest highlights of her life. It was never a dull moment when Barbara was around, she kept everyone going.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Mary Lee Williamson Hickman and uncle, Willard Larymore.

Those left to cherish her memories are her loving parents, Julian and ShaRhonda Sports; two sisters, Diamond Sports and Lazorria Sports; one brother, Anthony Sports all of the home; two grandmothers, Barbara Church and Mary (Kenneth) Boatwright both of Darlington, South Carolina; grandfather, Edward (Robbie) Wallace of Darlington, South Carolina; two great-grandmothers, Nellie Mae Sports of Florence, South Carolina and Almetta Richardson of Darlington, South Carolina; great-grandfather, John Hickman of Darlington, South Carolina; two aunts, Chelsea (Ben) Stewart and Edwina (Cleveland) Keith both of Darlington, South Carolina; two uncles, Ronald Hickman and Amaurice (Rotricia) Flynn both of Darlington, South Carolina; special aunt, Doris Hickman of Darlington, South Carolina; best friend, Malaysia Tracy of Florence, South Carolina and a host of other relatives and friends.

It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Douglas Solomon Nettles, Jr., affectionately called "Train Man". Mr. Douglas "Train Man" Nettles, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 13, 2023 in a Bennettsville nursing facility following an illness.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
