FCSO CEU Arrests Two for Trafficking Cocaine
On June 30, 2023 at approximaely 12:00 a.m. deputies assigned to the FCSO Criminal Enforcement Unit (CEU) initiaed a traffic stop on a black Jeep for a moving violation (speeding) at or near the 163 mile marker on I-95 northbound in Florence County. Following an encounter with the driver, deputies developed reasonable suspicion of criminal activity and obtained consent to search the vehicle. During the search deputies discovered an electronically operated hidden compartment, also know as a “trap” often used to transport illegal narcotics.
Upon gaining access to the “trap,” deputies found 6 kilos of cocaine and approximately $191,878.00 in US currency. Both the driver of the vehicle, Keisy Estibet Peguero (35 of Miami, Florida), and the passenger, Jose Argenis Hernandez-Severino (28 of New York, NY), were arrested and charged with Trafficking Cocaine. Both subjects were released to the Florence County Detention Center on July 2, 2023 on $100,000.00 surety bonds each.
