DCSD Announces Four New Varsity Sport Head Coaches

DARLINGTON, S.C. – The Darlington County School District introduced today four new head coaches for varsity teams in Hartsville and Lamar. Jason Earle will be Hartsville High School's new varsity boys' basketball coach. For Lamar High School, Brian Scott will take over the varsity boys' basketball team, while Allen Hunter is the school's new varsity volleyball coach. Adam Fedewa will lead the Lamar varsity baseball team.

Earle helped guide the Red Foxes to a Lower State title appearance last season as an assistant coach on the staff. He also serves as a coach for the Red Foxes' varsity football staff. He brings more than 16 years of coaching experience across multiple sports and grade levels, including time spent at Darlington High School and Scott's Branch High School. Earle is a physical education teacher at St. John's Elementary School in Darlington.

Scott brings more than 20 years of high school sports coaching experience to the Lamar varsity boys basketball program. Prior to his time with the whistle, Scott played football for the University of South Carolina and at Darlington High School. In 1996, he was named a Gatorade All-American for the Falcon football team and earned a McDonald's All-American nomination in basketball while scoring more than 2,000 points in his career on the court. More recently, Scott served as an assistant coach for Lamar's varsity girls program, Darlington High's football program, and West Florence High's football program.

Fedewa brings 14 years of coaching experience to the Lamar varsity baseball program. As pitching coach for the Hartsville High squad since 2013, he helped guide the program to five region championships and three Lower State titles in 2014, 2015, and 2022. Outside of the district, he has served as the pitching coach for Florence's Post 1 American Legion team since 2021, when that team clinched a state championship. Additionally, Fedewa served as an assistant coach on the Hartsville High varsity football staff during its run to a state championship in 2012 and Lower State titles in 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016. He currently teaches physical education at North Hartsville Elementary School.

Hunter, a retired service member of the United States Coast Guard, brings years of volleyball coaching experience to Lamar. At multiple locations in the state of Virginia, Hunter has served as a volleyball assistant or head coach at Ware Academy, 14U and 18U girls travel volleyball teams and West Point High School. He also spent the past several years as an assistant coach for West Point High's baseball team.
