Marion County Man Arrested for Outstanding Warrants

On July 18, 2023, Deshawn Derrick Tolbert, 26, from Centenary (Marion County) was arrested for multiple outstanding warrants. On July 25, 2020 Deshawn Tolbert, along with another person, allegedly commited an armed robbery of a juvenile on Amber St., in the City Limits of Marion, taking items valued at approximately $1,200.00.
Deshawn Tolbert has been charged with Armed Robbery, Pointing and Presenting a Firearm at a Person, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime, Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol, and Conspiracy as a result of this incident.

On September 14, 2022, Deshawn Tolbert is believed to committed the act of Murder of Ms. Vanessa Cross and her unborn child at 1113 Wallace Circle, Apt B, also located within the City Limits of Marion. Deshawn Tolbert is charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime, Discharging a Firearm in the City Limits, Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Violent Felony, Pointing and Presenting a Firearm at a Person, and Death to a Child in Utero During the Commission of a Violent Crime.

Mr. Tolbert is currently being held at the Marion County Detention Center and is scheduled for a bond hearing on July 19, 2023.
