There is Much More Behind Them Than Meets The Eye

This week we are writing to call attention to the behavior of conservatives nationwide. They appear to have taken on an alter-ego when going about legislating. In South Carolina, that ego has developed into a superpower.

Nationally, conservatives have taken on a posture of absolutism that has the nation headed for a default. But President Biden has kept calm as if he knew all he had to do, was cave-in to Republican demands putting Democrats in an interesting position. It makes one wonder if Democrats have enough backbone to stand up against Republicans. Altogether the two parties are running afoul of what represents good governance. We thought it was Congress who was supposed to allocate spending. If the two entities can't work together, the American people ought to recognize how dysfunctional they are and begin to elect people with the wherewithal to do what is best for the country, not what satisfies them personally.

Both parties have taken their allegiance to their constituents for granted. Altogether, Americans need to take a good long look at their representatives. In doing so, they should see if their representative has remained true to their oath of office. The people who run for office are becoming self-centered, egotistical maniacs who have lost sight of what they were elected to do. A phrase representing a slogan coined by former President Trump comes to mind, "draining the swamp." That term seems appropriate even if he became one of the swamp creatures. The truth is the two parties are just one party with different philosophies. Both parties are predominated by White people who do not want to give up the advantages White privilege has provided them. On the Democratic side, President Biden was around when many current Republicans were Democrats, who, through political expediency, changed parties.

Now let's look at what it means when they decide to change parties. Does the racial ethnicity of those individuals have anything to do with their decisions? We say a definitive yes! Ever since the browning of America, there has been a coming occurrence, a banning together of White people to preclude Black people from making any meaningful gains. Joining together has created a conundrum for Black people caught between the two parties without a real discernible difference between the two. President Biden is a perfect example of how Whites will not go but so far in their endeavors to change things.

On the other hand, you have Senator Tim Scott, who doesn't have an identity. He is trying to pretend there is no divide. But that is not too big a stretch for him since, from his viewpoint, there is no racism or discrimination in America. Then, there's the question of what is a conservative. Even though we know there is nothing real behind those labels of conservatism, and liberalism, to some people, the terms give them room to hide their true feelings.

Take the issue of abortion. If you disagree that ending the lives of the unborn is bad, then you are called a liberal. If you happen to be on the side of the anti-abortion groups, then you are called a conservative. But in actuality, a quick perusal of the terms would identify that there is much more behind them than meets the eye.

First, there is a juxtaposition in the true meanings of the two terms. Liberal means someone kind-hearted and giving, while a conservative is resistant to change, more or less rigid, and rules the roost. If one looks at what the parties stand for, it isn't easy to see how people can identify as one or the other. Blacks who identify as conservatives must have taken complete leave of their senses regarding what our people have gone through and what is still happening to keep Blacks behind. But on the other hand, for one to call themselves liberal is taken as being supportive of gay rights and abortion. The truth is people on either side of political mislabeling can agree with either party's philosophical determinations. But as it goes now, you are either one or the other.

At this late stage in the process, we need people to make both sides say what they mean and mean what they say. People need to stop letting politicians get away with lying about what they stand for. They need to be made to come out from behind the advertising and be who they are and what they really stand for. The question is, where do you stand in this charade of misidentified terminologies?

My recommendation for you this week is to take a stand in the position you want to be in when it comes to your soul's judgment. Believe me, God will not be confused by the mislabeling or the misidentifying. Everyone will have to answer for how they choose to identify. WAKE UP.
