*Obituary for Mary Eaddy*

Graveside Service for Mrs. Mary Alice Packer Eaddy was conducted Friday, March 12, 2021 at Sunset Memory Gardens, 2615 Alligator Road, Effingham, South Carolina. Interment was directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

Mrs. Mary Alice Packer Eaddy was born to the late Spencer and Mildred Packer on May 26, 1947 in Florence, South Carolina. She was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 5, 2021.

She was a proud graduate of Wilson High School and Florence-Darlington Technical College. She worked for many years for The Florence Morning News and the Florence County Disability and Special Needs office and was active in her community.

She was a long-time member of Majority Missionary Baptist Church of Florence where she was a Trustee, Senior Missionary member, Usher Board member, and a Past President of the YWA. She was a past State President of the IBPOEW and Daughter Ruler of Liberty Temple #800 for several years. She also served for many years as Secretary of the Silver Star, Tent #4 of the United Order of Tents.

Mary was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend that loved to travel, traveling the world to spend time with her Army son and his family, visiting South Korea, Germany, Paris, France, and London, England.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Mildred Goodson and Rosa James.

Celebrating her life and rejoicing in her victory over death are: her sister, Elease Johnson of Florence, South Carolina; three children, Natalia Packer of Atlanta, Georgia, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Gregory (Lisa) Packer of Fairfax Station, Virginia, and Edrick Packer of Florence, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Tamesha, Chelsey, Kavon, Kashon, Gregory, Jr., and Matthew: eleven great-grandchildren, Kameryn, Dontay, Chase, Ayden, Jayda, Carter, Karmyn, Chance, Kayson, Karlei, and Kaiden; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

While we will miss Mrs. Mary Alice Packer Eaddy, the impact she had on all who knew her is lasting and she will be cherished forever. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.

*Obituary for Alex James Hickson*

Alex James Hickson was born September 19, 1971 in Florence, SC to Learline Felder Eaddy and the late Alexander Rusty Hickson. He departed this earthly life on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at McLeod Regional Medical Center.

Alex attended the public schools of Florence County where he graduated from Lake City High School class of 1989.

James was employed with Superior Machine Company of South Carolina, Inc. He was a member of New St. Paul Holiness Church.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Willie Hickson, Bessie Hickson and maternal grandparents; Raleigh Felder and Idelia Felder.

Left to cherish his precious memories: his wife; Priscilla J. Hickson of the home, two sons; Marquis D. Hickson and Kendrick L. Hickson both of the home, six grandchildren, mother; Learline (Horace) Eaddy of Coward, SC, sister; Lakia Eaddy, brothers; Alexander Hickson and Chiquez Eaddy of Coward, SC, and Dayla Eaddy of Winterhaven, FL, mother in law; Minnie (Howard) Stafford of Florence, SC, brother in law; Melvin Wilson Green, Jr. of Jonesboro, GA, special friends; Terry Harrison, Rahif Morton, Eric Grant, and Rudy Harrison all of Florence, SC and Shawn Graham of Effingham, SC and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Brenda Jean Williamson Muldrow was born on February 13, 1959, in Florence, SC to loving parents of Isaac John Williamson, Sr. and Elizabeth Hick Williamson. She departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

Brenda was educated in the public schools of Florence County and graduated from South Florence High School c/o 1978.

Brenda was employed with Honda, Leggs Manufacturing, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Ross Department Store as a supervisor.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother; Isaac John Williamson, Jr.

Left to cherish her precious memories include her sons; Robert Saunta Muldrow and Byron T. Muldrow, 12 grandchildren, sister; Priscilla S. Ham, four brothers; Nathaniel Williamson, Leroy Williamson, Willie Williamson, and Dean Williamson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Henry McElveen, son of Luther, Sr., and Louise James McElveen was born on January 30, 1948, in Florence, South Carolina. He departed his earthly life on Monday, March 8, 2021, at McLeod Regional Medical Center of Florence, SC.

Henry was educated in the public schools of Florence County. He was employed by several companies performing plumbing, construction, maintenance, auto repair, and numerous other jobs. He was a jack of all trades.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Mary Thomas McElveen, daughter; Regina McElveen, five brothers; William McElveen, Luther McElveen, Jr., Chester McElveen, Willie Lee “Bud” McElveen, Frank “Donnie” McElveen, one sister; Mary “Sister” Barr.

Left to cherish his precious memories include his sons; Barry (Jenice) Green, Marvin McElveen, and Henry McElveen, Jr., nine grandchildren, two brothers; Bright McElveen and Tommy (Roseanna) McElveen, four sisters; Martha McAllister, Margaret Williams, Clara (Tommie) Cooper and Betty McFadden, four sisters-in-law; Mary McElveen, Rose McElveen, Flora McElveen, Mary Cooper and Dorothy (Charles Edward) Lucas- Cooper.

Mrs. Gloria J Washington Edwards was born on August 6, 1950. On Saturday, March 6, 2021 she entered into eternal rest.

Gloria is a graduate of Mayo High School. She worked in housekeeping , at Florence steam Laundry cleaners, St. Anthony Church as a service manager, catering services, and a faithful member of the 5 Black Business Women. She attended Maxwell Baptist Church and also served as a usher. She was love by everyone and will be greatly missed.

Gloria is preceded in death by her son Mitchell Washington, Pearly M. McNeil, Sara Washington, Barbara Washington, Daisy Bess, Woodrow McNeil, Michael Washington, and Victor Washington.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her spouse Barry King of 21 years. Children: Rosemary (Donzell) Washington of Florence, SC, Lora (Tony) Preacher of Florence, SC, Wanda (Michael) Douglas of Florence, SC, and Tawana Hamilton of Columbia, SC. Siblings: Margie (Earnest) Harrel of Florence, SC, Angelia (Darryl) Washington of Florence, SC, Carolyn (Rodney) Brown of Florence, SC, Anthony T. Washington of Florence, SC, Tommy (Cynthia) Washington of Bronx, NY, Benjamin (Cheryl) Washington of Greensboro, SC, and James (Donna) Washington of Greensboro, SC. 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

*Obituary for Gloria (Kinder) Singletary*

Gloria was born on February 1, 1953 in Williamsburg County to the late Mary Alice Kinder. Gloria departed this life on Friday, March 5, 2021 at her residence in Hemingway, SC.

She attended Battery Park High School and was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. Shewas united in holy matrimony in 1970 to Willie James Singletary, Sr. To this union, two beloved children were born. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lula Nesmith and one brother, Charlie Nesmith.

Gloria loved to work in her flower garden. She lived to spend time with and spoil her precious grandchildren.

She never met a stranger and was a fun-loving person that everyone truly respected. For those that knew her well, she was NEVER afraid to speak her mind. Gloria leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Willie Singletary, Sr; one devoted daughter, Angela (Kent) Singletary Johnson of Hemingway, SC; one loving son, Willie Singletary, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Xaya and Nyla; sisters: Joanna Latson, Latricia Washington, and Denise Washington; two brothers: David (Vivian) Kinder and James Washington; three additional siblings: Emanuel Pinckney, Sadie Cooper, and Sarah Williams; one special cousin, Leatrice Cooper, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

*Obituary for Nathaniel Williamson*

Mr. Nathaniel Williamson, Jr., son of the late Nathaniel, Sr. and Dora Lee Jones Williamson was born on March 13, 1952. “ Nay” as he was affectionately called departed his earthly life on Wednesday afternoon, March 10, 2021 after a brief illness with his two daughters at his bedside.

He attended the public schools of Darlington County School System.
On May 8, 1981, he married the love of his life, Wilhemenia Hickman. Nay and Wilhemenia dated for 10 years and then united into holy matrimony that lasted for almost 40 years; this union was blessed with two children, LaTonya Williamson and Jamonica Williamson.
“Nay” was employed at R. E. Goodson Construction for 49 years. He loved to work, and he loved to be outside. Nay loved to watch old Westerns on television. He was an individual who kept to himself.

Those left to cherish Nathaniel’s memories are: his loving and devoted wife, Wilhemenia Hickman Williamson of the home; two caring and devoted daughters: LaTonya Williamson Edwards of Darlington, SC and Jamonica Williamson of the home; three brothers: Ernest Williamson of Darlington, SC, Leroy (Renata) Williamson of Hartsville, SC and Christopher (Laura) Williamson of Bealton, VA; four sisters: Virginia (Moses) Perkins, Marguerite Miles, Carolyn McCollough, Diane Holloman all of Darlington, SC; ; his only aunt, Elvira Williamson Dixon of Darlington, SC; three brothers-in-law: Edward (Annie Bell) Hickman of Shelby, NC, Johnny Hickman and Bobby Hickman both of Darlington, SC; five sisters-in-law: Bertha Gattison, Kate Roceda Poole, Lucille Williams, Mary (Walter) Tedder all of Darlington, SC and Barbara Richardson of Philadelphia, PA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Nathaniel was preceded in death by his parents: Nathaniel, Sr. and Dora Lee Jones Williamson; his brother, Robert Lewis Jones; two sisters: Betsy Mae Williamson and Doretha Williamson and his only grandchild, Orlando “Dee” Edwards, Jr.
