Are You Tapping Into Your Well?

I’ve read this Scripture for a longtime but saw something different this time. “Fear of the Lord is a life-giving fountain; it offers escape from snares of death” (Proverbs 14:27 NLT).

Let’s admit it. There are many things we won’t do, NOT because it’s wrong, but because we are afraid of the consequences. A child learns in the beginning to stay away painful things because it’s painful. We learn the same way. God warns us about the danger ahead if we do certain things so that we don’t have to experience the suffering that comes from disobeying. Scriptures tell us that the history of the past was recorded in the Bible for our learning. So we could learn what to do and what not to do and NOT have to experience the pain (Romans 15:4). These Scriptures teach us the “fear of the Lord” and that He is a “life-giving fountain” (Proverbs 14:27).

If you have not received Christ as Savior, you are missing out on the “living-giving fountain” the Scriptures talk about. Jesus Himself said that “the water He gives us would be a fountain within us” (John 4:14). Jesus Christ is the fountain life. He that has the Son has life (1 John 5:12).

As you read the Bible passages this week, prayerfully ask yourself these three questions:

1- What does it say? (Observation)

2- What does it mean? (Interpretation)

3- What does it mean for me? (Application)

Remember, God is the fountain of life and the fountain of wisdom. Repent (turn away from sin to God) and He’ll be right there to bless you.
