*Virtual Breaking Free Race Begins October 1st*

It’s time to RACE! Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Assault will host its 10th Annual Breaking Free Race Friday in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month!

Last year was the first time this event was held virtually, and they had such a great turnout that they decided to do it virtually again this year. This gives the opportunity to race for the ENTIRE month of October, and it helps to include participants from all over!

Join the 30 miles in 1 Month Challenge or the Longest Distance Challenge, and compete as an individual or a team of up to four!

*Reclaim Our Communities Cease Fire Rally On October 23rd*

Slater Foundation, Kingdom Living Temple, Florence Democracy Center, Nubian Brothers, Florence SC, will be having A CEASE FIRE RALLY USA FOR RECLAIMING OUR COMMUNITIES STOP KILLING YOUR OWN will be held October 23, 2021, from 10am –2:00pm at North Florence Oakland Ave Plaza or BT Parking Lot.

*City of Hartsville Announces Treats on the Green*

The City of Hartsville’s Burry Park will be taken over by mummies, bats, princesses, pirates, ghosts, and superheroes walking through the park to find treats on October 23rd from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Businesses and organizations are invited to set up a table to offer treats to the kids that will be in Burry Park for the event at no charge and should sign up at www.mainstreethartsville.org. This safe event will be free of charge and all are welcome to attend.

Following the Treats on the Green event, there will be a Halloween Themed Screen on the Green. This month’s movie is Hocus Pocus sponsored by SPC Credit Union. This family-friendly movie will be one that parents and kids alike can enjoy.

We are also hosting our Fourth Annual Downtown Scarecrow Contest to accompany fall festivities. Individuals, businesses and groups alike are welcome to join the contest. Participation is FREE, but we are also offering wooden scarecrow frames for $20 to help get you going. Build a Scarecrow however you would like: barrels of hay, stick stand, or create your own. We have flag pole holes along our downtown sidewalks that are 1-inch in diameter. They will be available to use for scarecrow stands.

*15th Annual Marion County Youth Day & Veterans Day Appreciation Program*

On Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Grice Recreation Center located at 600 Green Street. From 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM. An opportunity for the citizens of Marion County to spend time together, to enjoy, to promote community peace and education with our youths, while remaining safe during this pandemic.

We invites everyone to attend The Largest Pop -Up Tent Fall Festival in the PEE-Dee , Saturday October 23, 12noon until 4pm at The Virgil Wells Stadium Magnolia Street , Darlington SC. Games and Fun for Everyone, Face Painting, Bingo, Horse Shoes,Basketball Hoop, Food Trucks, Live Entertainment .
