Virtual Breaking Free Race Begins October 1st

It’s time to RACE! Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Assault will host its 10th Annual Breaking Free Race Friday in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month!

Last year was the first time this event was held virtually, and they had such a great turnout that they decided to do it virtually again this year. This gives the opportunity to race for the ENTIRE month of October, and it helps to include participants from all over!

Join the 30 miles in 1 Month Challenge or the Longest Distance Challenge, and compete as an individual or a team of up to four!

BBQ Fundraiser

Mechanicsville Baptist Church Fall Mission Fair & BBQ Fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. October 29 at the church, 2364 Cashua Ferry Road, Darlington. Plates will be $8 each and will include BBQ, Rice (Red Gravy OR Liver Hash), Sweet Potatoes, Slaw Pickles and Cake. We will also be selling BBQ.

Evening Shade Inc. & Sip Shine Customs 1st Annual Trunk or Treat at 1361 South Irby Street in Florence, SC from 5 PM to 7PM. Bring the kids and come get some candy and see some cool rides!

Florence After Five featuring Chocolate Chip & Co

Held the final Friday of each month from April to October, the Florence Downtown Development Corp. hosts a FREE concert in the 100 block of S. Dargan Street between Evans and Cheves Streets in Historic Downtown Florence. In 2020, Florence After Five was awarded “Best Community Festival,” “Best Place to Dance,” “Best Outdoor Event,” “Best Local Concert,” and “Best Place for Live Music.”

The events run from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m. and the band takes the stage at 6:00 p.m. Food and beverages are available at the event. All food and beverage sales are made via tickets, which can be purchased at our ticket booth located near the Florence County Museum. Just look for the big-ticket flag! Tickets are $1.00 each. Both cash and cards are accepted.

Convenient event parking is available in the free City of Florence Parking Garage accessed via 150 S. Irby Street or in any of the available on-street spaces on W. Evans and N. Dargan Street, the SC DHEC parking lot, or the BTC parking lot..

On Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Grice Recreation Center located at 600 Green Street. From 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM. An opportunity for the citizens of Marion County to spend time together, to enjoy, to promote community peace and education with our youths, while remaining safe during this pandemic.
