On Sunday, July 10, 2022 Agape Institute of Theology held a Special Recognition Ceremony at New Zion Baptist Church, where Rev. Harmon Graham is Pastor.
Dr. Ann Jackson, Chancellor of Agape Institute of Theology, presented Doctorate Degrees to City of Florence Mayor Dr. Teresa Myers-Ervin, Dr. Della McBride and Rev. Dr. Terry Law, Sr.
Mayor Myers-Ervin was presented with The Degree of Honorary Doctorate Of Humanities. Minister Buquilla Ervin Cannon was presiding.

Resolution No. 2022-20 was presented at the regular City Council meeting to Marguerite Willis, wife of former Mayor Frank Willis - A Resolution to commemorate the many contributions of Frank Willis to the City of Florence and the community as well as designate they City’s surface water treatment plant located at 2598 Florence Harllee Boulevard as the “Frank E. Willis Pee Dee River Regional Water Plant”.

Mayor Casey Hancock awarded Gospel in the Park Series a proclamation for their 15 years of service to the community.
Rain forced the Gospel in the Park Series inside of the T. B. Thomas Sport Center on Sunday evening. The Gospel in the Park Series, organized by Ms. Barbara Carraway and the late Loretta B. Richardson 15 years ago. With the theme, “Bringing Unity into the Community,” has been the largest event in Pride Park.

A ribbon cutting was held on Thursday in the James Allen Plaza celebrating the Asiya Jordan Foundation’s joining of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce.
Cutting the ribbon was Shalanda Waiters, director of the foundation, which was established in memory of her daughter, Asiya Jordan.

The Honorable Kevin N. Brown, Grand Chancellor of the Knights of Pythias of the Jurisdiction of South Carolina has been appointed as Grand Mogul of Medina Temple no. 360 of the Dramatic Order Knights of Omar.
Grand Mogul is the chief officer in Temple of The Dramatic Order Knights of Omar better known as "The Dokeys.”

On behalf of Duke Energy, Mindy Taylor, presented the Duke Energy Emergency Preparedness and Storm Resiliency Grant to the City of Florence at the regular City Council meeting. The Duke Energy Foundation grant will support the city’s effort in emergency management training and equipment.
