The City of Florence received state-wide recognition Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the Municipal Association of South Carolina (MASC) Annual Meeting. Mayor Teresa Myers Ervin accepted the Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Award for Economic Development on behalf of the city.
The City of Florence was selected in the economic development category for the Food, Artisan, and Warehouse District.

Duke Energy participated in the Back to School Bookbag Bash sponsored by the Pinckney Foundation in Marion’s Amazing Grace Park on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.
Eliana Pinckney, daughter of the late Senator Pinckney, hosted the event. Community sponsors included Absolute Total Care, Pee Dee Community Action Partnership, and Duke Energy.

Finklea, Hendrick & Blake, LLC of Florence partnered with The House of Hope on its tiny home village project, which allows families in need to have a stable living community. The firm donated $25,000 to completely fund one tiny home, which was completed June 14. Firm partners Gary I. Finklea, J. Greg Hendrick and Charlie J. Blake, Jr. participated in the ribbon cutting.

The Grand Lodge of North and South Carolina of the Knights of Pythias celebrated their 143rd Session along with the Grand Court of Calanthe who celebrated their 107th session. The theme was, "Through Unity There is Strength, Working Together Works!"
The event was held at Emanuel Baptist Church in Thomasville, NC on July 16, 2022.
The Grand Lodge of the Knights of Pythias of the Jurisdiction of South Carolina has lodges established in Darlington, Sumter, Cheraw, Lake City, Timmonsville and other areas forthcoming.
The Grand Court of Calanthe of the Jurisdiction of South Carolina and Norht Carolina has Sisters and Sir Knights from Sumter, Florence and other areas of the Jurisdiction of South Carolina.

Campers practice archery during day 1 of WinShape Camps for Communities at First Presbyterian Church in Florence.
WinShape is a weeklong day camp for youth between K5-8 grades combining fun, faith and friendship into an action-packed week. Estimating approximately 240 campers from across Florence county, the camp is scheduled to run from July 18-22.
