May 22, 2023

Benedict College's Mark Chigaazira and Divgurjot Singh have been named to the 2023 Academic All-District® Men's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators.

Chigaazira was recently named the SIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year after going 13-2 overall and 10-1 in conference play at the No. 1 singles position during the regular season. Chigaazira partnered with doubles teammate and brother Jason Chigaazira to build a 10-5 overall record at No. 1 doubles spot, and 8-3 in SIAC play to receive all-conference honors. He helped lead the Tigers to third place in the 2023 SIAC tournament. He was named All-SIAC in 2022 and helped the Tigers to the conference championship.

Singh went 6-4 this season in singles action, while being limited due to injuries. In 2022, he was named the SIAC Freshman of the Year.

The Academic All-District® teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 1. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the links above.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
