The 2023 PAWSUp Celebrity Soirée a Smashing Success

The Claflin University Department of Athletics kicked off the Third Annual PAWSUp Golf Classic in grand style with the 2023 PAWSUp Celebrity Soirée. Held at the Sulit Luxe Affairs Events Venue in Orangeburg, South Carolina, the star-filled event turned out to be one of the biggest events of the year.

"For the city to come together and celebrate Claflin University as a whole, and for the stars to come out, it means a lot to our students," said Claflin University Director of Athletics, Tony O'Neal. "Because as we continue to build, we got some things that we want to put in place for our long-term growth as a department."

There were many elements that made the event special. One of the highlights was a terrific performance by The Promised Land Band which gave the event a terrific atmosphere. Adding more to the event was a celebrity-filled list of guests in attendance. Former NFL stars, Ben Coates, Chris Canty, Na'Shaan Godard, and other celebrities were in attendance at the event.

It took a tremendous team effort to pull off the event. "We're just blessed that the president has supported us and the advancement team works with us," O'Neal added. "Our staff said, 'you go find the sponsors and we'll take care of the rest."
